Internship Sales group project

Internships can be an essential part of getting a job that you want and enjoy after graduating from college.  They give you a great opportunity to learn more about the field that you are looking into and will help you better prepare for that job environment after you graduate.  Throughout this paper we will discuss six reasons why internships are so important and why every student should try one before they graduate.
Getting the job experience that is needed for after you graduate is the most important aspect of an internship.  By doing an internship in the field that you are going into, you will learn knowledge and skills that only come through hands on experience in the work place.  This will help you get a feel for what the job environment will be like and help you be more prepared when you enter that field permanently.  By getting the job experience needed through an internship along with taking classes that pertain to that field you will be able to be prepared for after graduation when you enter that field.
Another reason is that it will offer more job security in a competitive world.  Here is a look at some valuable statistics about internships.  Statistics show that 4 out 5 employers prefer and want someone that had an internship.  88.5% of students hired by employers have internship experience, and 53% of employers will hire their own interns for full time positions.  Students that put in the time to do an internship will in turn have a way higher chance of getting a job they want over someone who didn’t.  They will become more valuable in the eyes of the employer, which is another great reason to do an internship.  If two resumes come in for the same position with same work experience and college degree but one put in the time to do an internship and one didn’t, chances are the one that did the internship will outweigh the one who didn’t do an internship.
Getting acquainted with people in the field and broadening your knowledge of all that it entails is another bonus that results in participating in an internship.  Sometimes what the job is on paper isn’t always true to what is actually is in the work force.  Getting the hands on experience in the career you may be pursuing will open your eyes to the reality of what it truly is.  Like a few students have said, internships will give you experiences that you will never be able to have in the classroom.  The experiences and people you will meet will be priceless and will help you make more realistic decisions about your career path.
Internships also help you gain the particular knowledge that you need for that field, along with learning the correct terminology that is required.  Most times the information that you receive in class is a good foundation for what you will need to know in the job field.  By getting an internship you are able to apply that knowledge with the hands on skills that you need in order to succeed.  It will help you know what areas of strength that you have and what areas that you need to improve on more while you are in school.  This hands-on experience will give you the advantage once you graduate because you have already been able to improve on your weaknesses and turn them into skills.
Internships also have another great benefit.  They can give you college credit towards your degree.  This is great because while you are learning your job field better and getting more experience you are getting credit towards graduation.  This can save you a lot of time and can help you earn a lot more money.  By learning more about your field through an internship while still in school will save you a lot of time after you graduate.  A student who didn’t do an internship will have to start from the bottom and learn everything that you learned while in your internship.
Internships can also help you build your network of contacts for after you graduate.  Having a network of people that you know can help you find a job much faster and easier.  Instead of just you looking for a position you will have many people that can look for you along with many people who can refer you if they hear of an opening.  Having a large network of people will give you the advantage and help you be able to find the job that is right for you.
Internships are an important part of college and for every student’s life.  They can help you get a higher, better paying job in the career field that you choose.  They can also give you great work experience and give you college credit towards your degree.  They are a great source of networking and help you gain the contacts that you will need once graduation comes around.
